A woman has been charged following a serious assault near Rectory Road in Sittingbourne. Police were called to reports of an injured man near a residential street shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene, where a male victim, in his late teens, was treated for a suspected stab wound. He was airlifted to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.  

A 19-year-old woman was arrested later that morning in connection with the incident and subsequently charged with wounding with intent. She has been remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates.

Officers are continuing to urge any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them. Drivers with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also urged to check for relevant footage.
