Dover has launched a new, free digital history trail that brings the town’s heritage to life via smartphone. By scanning a QR code to download the Gazooky TimeWalks app, users can access an interactive map covering 22 locations across the town.
Key Features
- Interactive Locations: The trail follows updated information panels, linking historical stories and images to the exact spots where they occurred.
- Beyond the Landmarks: Designed to showcase both famous sites and hidden gems, providing a deeper look at Dover’s past.
- Tech-Driven Heritage: Funded by the European Space Agency, this project is a collaboration between Dover District Council and Gazooky Studios.
“What makes this trail special is that people can experience stories in the places where they actually happened.” — Rose Kay, Gazooky Studios
The trail provides a “living layer” of history, supporting local tourism and education by making the town’s heritage accessible to everyone. This follows the success of last year’s Coastal Voices trail, which remains available for visitors.
