A jail term has been imposed on a man who stabbed his victim in a dispute in Thanet. Craig Judd was arrested after a man suffered multiple stab wounds in an altercation in Fulham Avenue, Garlinge in the early hours of Sunday 13 August 2023.

Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to a London hospital for life-saving treatment.

Police quickly established that Judd had been involved in the dispute, during which he had himself sustained an eye injury. Witnesses told police they had seen Judd shouting before swinging a knife at the victim. Judd had then discouraged members of the public from helping the injured man, a witness reported. He was arrested and later charged with attempted murder. He admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article at Canterbury Crown Court in November 2023.

The 25-year-old, from Garlinge, was brought before the same court on Friday 1 March 2024 and jailed for seven and a half years.

Detective Sergeant Alper Ay, from East Kent CID, said:

‘Tackling knife crime is a priority for Kent Police and we take a zero-tolerance approach to carrying knives and weapons at all times.

‘Judd was quickly identified, arrested and charged for this horrific attack and I hope the fact that he is now in prison provides some reassurance to the local community.’
