Detectives are investigating a report of a serious assault at an Edenbridge High Street public house on Saturday 16 December 2023 between 10.30pm and 11pm, in which a man in his 30s was injured in the beer garden of The Old Eden.

It is alleged the victim was assaulted following a row and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

On Wednesday 20 December, a 20-year-old man from Sevenoaks was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail until 18 March 2024, pending further investigation.

Detective Constable Tony Hatcher, of west Kent’s CID, said:

‘It is understood there were a number of people at the public house at the time of the incident and we are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police, to contact us.

‘We are especially keen to speak to a man who was in the beer garden who may have important information. He is described as being white, of medium build and with short dark hair and a short beard. He was wearing a black jacket, dark blue slim-fit jeans, and white trainers.’
