Queues near Dover due to a lorry fire on A2 Picture: Highways England

A lorry caught fire on the Jubilee Way (A2) near the Duke of York’s roundabout in Dover caused traffic disruption and road closure.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 4.30pm and used compressed air foam to put out the fire. They wore breathing apparatus to protect themselves from the smoke.

The driver of the lorry escaped without injury and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and an investigation is underway.

Drivers heading to Dover Docks are advised to use the A20 route instead, as the A2 remains closed until further notice. However, they should expect delays and check for traffic updates before travelling.
