A suspect has been charged after police were called to an incident in which a staff member was reportedly threatened in an Ashford shop.

At around 4.30pm on Wednesday 13 April 2022,  Kent Police was called to a store in Warren Retail Park, Ashford following a report a suspected shoplifter had threatened a member of staff with a knife.

Daniel Martin, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with two counts of threatening a person with a bladed article and one count of theft.

The 38-year-old appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 16 April where he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 16 May.
