A suspected thief has appeared in court following a collision involving a stolen van in Maidstone.
The incident happened at around 5.25pm on Saturday 3 April 2021 when Kent Police was informed of the theft of a white Peugeot Partner in Bower Place.
A short while later, officers saw the vehicle turning from Bower Mount Road into London Road, where it drove towards the town centre.
The van continued into Terrace Road where it was involved in a collision with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident.
A man of no fixed address, was charged the following day with taking a vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The 43-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6 April where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
A 30-year-old man from Sheerness was bailed to return to the police station on Monday 12 April.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the Peugeot van before, or at the time of the collision to contact them. They are also asking motorists with dashcam who were in the area to check for footage that may assist the investigation.
