Two Luminosi trees will be among the highlights at this year’s Bedgebury Christmas Lights trail, which opens on Friday, November 19.
The lighting on the trees, which stand at more than six metres, responds to sound and the work will be accompanied by a soundscape of nature and wildlife including birds, squirrels, bees and aeolian tones. These sounds create real-time moving light patterns and colours up the trunks, around the branches and in the globes.
This new work is the creation of Dan Fox, director of Sound Intervention who is a sound artist, musician and installation creator. Sound Intervention works on diverse projects often outdoors in public spaces, and with a network of visual artists, makers, musicians, and technicians.
Greeted by the sights and sounds of Christmas, experience Bedgebury in a whole new light as you wander beneath unique canopies drenched in seasonal colour. Inspired by the landscape itself it is a festive adventure in a world of trees.
Another highlight is the Sonic Forest is a stunning new installation which will transform Bedgebury forest this Christmas into an immersive wonderland.
Sonic Forest is a collection of 2-4m tall, tree-like, constructs made up of highly customisable, versatile, pixel mapped rings, guaranteed to amaze and delight in equal measure.
They are designed by Liverpool-based Despite the Monkey, which works at the forefront of live events and new media technology, pushing the boundaries of audience experience in new directions.
Bedgebury’s one-mile magical winter trail boasts some of the brightest, brand-new installations coming to the Pinetum this year…. There will be giant colour changing lilies, fields of light and burnished lantern trees filled with flickering flames. neon strings stretched between towering trees, larger than life colourful flora and plenty of fantastic selfie moments.
See the Forest’s impressive conifer collection adorned with decorations, so wrap up warm and be transported into a winter wonderland. Walk alongside dancing fountains and linger by shimmering reflections that cast light into hidden places. From the delicate and twinkling to the grand and spectacular, continue through the towering Tunnel of Light festooned by over 100,000 pea-lights.
Independent street food vendors bring a delicious twist to tasty treats on offer. Have yourself a holly, jolly Christmas and complete your walk under the stars with *toasted marshmallows, a *spiced winter warmer or *hot chocolate shared with someone special.
