An investigation has been launched after an unmarked police car responding to a blue-light emergency collided with a car on the M20.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 pm on Monday, 14 September 2026, on the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9 near Charing. A blue Skoda Octavia patrol car—travelling with active lights and sirens toward a fatal crash near Tilmanstone—was involved in a collision with a blue Nissan Qashqai heading in the same direction.
No serious injuries were reported, though the three occupants of the Nissan were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Detectives are now making a specific appeal to locate the driver of a heavy goods vehicle featuring a white trailer, which was travelling in lane one at the time of the impact in lane two.
