Officers investigating a serious assault on a pensioner in Cranbrook have arrested a suspect, with Kent Police continuing to appeal for witnesses and footage.
The incident took place at around 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 June 2026, when police were called to a report involving five young people on Waterloo Road. During the incident, a catapult was fired towards a man in his 70s. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a serious injury to his wrist, and required hospital treatment after speaking with attending officers.
Following the attack, the group fled the scene towards The Hill area, known locally as The Crane, prompting an immediate police investigation. On Sunday 19 July, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the assault. He has since been released on bail while further enquiries are completed.
Officers are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police, or anyone possessing relevant CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist the ongoing investigation, to come forward.
