National Highways report this morning Motorists travelling through Kent are facing a grueling afternoon as severe congestion paralyzes a critical stretch of the M20.

Traffic officials have issued a formal warning for the eastbound carriageway, where travel times have plummeted due to a significant bottleneck.

The disruption is centered between Junction 11, near Hythe, and Junction 11A, the primary access point for the Eurotunnel. Drivers currently caught in the tailbacks are experiencing severe delays of approximately 90 minutes, effectively turning the motorway into a stationary parking lot for miles.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the specific cause of the backup, but the impact is being felt across the regional network. Commuters and freight haulers heading toward the coast are being urged to seek alternative routes or delay their journeys if possible, as the 90-minute wait time shows no immediate signs of easing. Local roads surrounding Hythe are also expected to see increased volume as drivers attempt to bypass the motorway chaos.
