Two people have been remanded in custody following police raids that shut down two commercial-scale cannabis factories in Ashford.
The operations, carried out on the morning of Tuesday 4 August as part of a ongoing crackdown on organised crime, resulted in the seizure of around 500 plants alongside high-powered cultivation equipment.
Officers executed search warrants at an address on Hythe Road, discovering a extensive set-up spanning multiple rooms, including an attic and basement. A simultaneous raid at a premises on Riverbank Way uncovered five further rooms retrofitted specifically for growing the class B drug.
The pair were arrested at the scene, charged with the production of cannabis, and brought before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 5 August. Both individuals were remanded in custody, with the case sent to Canterbury Crown Court for future proceedings.
