Multiple dispersal orders have been put in place across Kent’s east coast in preparation for the weekend.
As part of Kent Police’s ongoing commitment to deter antisocial behaviour, officers will be out on the streets to remind people to socialise responsibly, or face further action being taken against them. The dispersal order grants officers enhanced powers to move people who are seen to be carrying out nuisance behaviour away from the area. If they return within a certain time limit, they risk arrest.
Section 34 dispersal orders will become active in Whitstable, Herne Bay, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate from 4pm on Friday 17 July 2026. The order will remain in place for 48 hours.
The orders, coupled with high visibility patrols are part of the robust plans put in place by Kent Police to tackle antisocial behaviour along the coast as visitor numbers to the area increase.
Chief Inspector for Thanet, Ian Swallow, said:
‘We will continue to put these orders in place across our popular beaches and coastal towns to ensure that everyone can enjoy the spaces responsibly and safely. Our officers will be visible throughout the summer months and won’t hesitate to take action to tackle any unwanted behaviour head on.’
