Kent Fire and Rescue Service successfully contained a wildfire that broke out in Canterbury on Friday evening.

Emergency services were called to Ross Gardens just before 8:00pm following reports of an open-air fire. Four fire engines and a specialist all-terrain utility vehicle were dispatched to the scene to tackle the flames.

Crews deployed specialized firefighting equipment, using heavy-duty beaters alongside a high-pressure fogging spike to suppress and ultimately extinguish the fire. Firefighters remained on-site for three and a half hours, dampening down the area until the incident was officially closed at 11:31pm.

Officials have confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The cause of the wildfire is not yet known.
