Four fire engines remain at the scene of a residential fire on Westmorland Road in Maidstone this evening, following a swift response by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
Emergency services were initially called to the area shortly after 3:00 pm today, Monday 13 July, after a blaze broke out in a garden. Six fire engines were deployed to the address, where crews using breathing apparatus worked to tackle the flames.
The fire is believed to have originated in the garden before spreading across a boundary fence and reaching a neighbouring property. As of 5:00 pm, the operation had been scaled back to four appliances but firefighters remain on-site carrying out dampening down operations to extinguish any remaining hotspots and ensure the area is safe.
Volunteers from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service Volunteer Response Team are also in attendance, offering welfare support to the emergency crews and providing assistance to local residents affected by the incident.
