Charges Brought Following Armed Incident in Herne Bay


A man has been charged with firearm offences after armed police were deployed to Herne Bay town centre.

Kent Police were called to the High Street at approximately 5:50pm on Sunday 21 June 2026, following reports that a member of the public had been approached by a male carrying a weapon. Armed officers attended the scene and arrested a suspect within minutes. No injuries were reported, and an imitation firearm was located and seized by officers.

A 30-year-old man from Herne Bay was subsequently charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. He appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on 23 June 2026 and has been remanded in custody. He is next scheduled to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on 27 July 2026.
