A series of high-value thefts from shops across Kent has led to charges being brought against two men, following a police investigation into the stolen goods totalling more than £20,000.
The investigation focused on multiple offences targeting national chains and local businesses, where high-value racing bikes, electric bikes, and e-scooters were stolen. Detectives looked into 13 separate incidents that occurred between May and August 2025. The thefts spanned several locations across the county, including Ashford, Aylesford, Folkestone, Gravesend, Sittingbourne, Maidstone, and Whitstable.
The first breakthrough came in November 2025, when officers arrested a suspect who was subsequently released on bail while further enquiries were carried out. However, recent developments in the case led to formal charges. On Sunday 7 June 2026, a 38-year-old man from Rochester was charged with conspiracy to steal from a shop. The following day, a 42-year-old man from Thamesmead, London, was also charged with the same offence.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 August 2026.
