If you use the trains or stroll around town, you’ll want to keep an eye on some major updates heading to Folkestone this summer. Network Rail is kicking things off on 1 June with essential improvement works at the Folkestone Foord Rail Viaduct, which will run all the way until the end of September 2026.
They are planning a mix of overnight jobs, daytime shifts, and some temporary line closures, so your journey might look a little different over the next few months.
Local residents should have received a double-sided notice in the post under the reference SRE/DS/FOORDVIADUCTFOLKESTONE/XTD7DM0594YDS, but you can also find all the schedule and disruption details on the Network Rail website.
Meanwhile, it’s not just the tracks getting a makeover, as Kent County Council Highways has announced a brand-new pedestrian improvement scheme for Shorncliffe Road.
