Firefighters have extinguished a hay bale fire that broke out in Sittingbourne on Monday afternoon.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of burning hay bales in Quinton Road, Swale, at 4:24pm on 25 May. Two fire engines and an all-terrain specialist wildfire vehicle were sent to the scene, where crews successfully put out the flames and dampened down the surrounding area.
Firefighters remained at the scene until Tuesday morning, officially closing the incident at 9:29am on 26 May.
Crews will continue to monitor the area, and local residents are advised that some smoke may continue to drift from the field while the remaining hotspots safely burn out. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
