Kent Police report a 67-year-old sex offender who abused five children and an adult over a 40 year period in Swanscombe has been jailed for 24 years.
Kevin Swaisland admitted numerous sexual offences which occurred between 1979 and 2025. Having denied several other sexual offences, he was found guilty following a trial.
An investigation was launched into Swaisland after several victims came forward to report his crimes. He was arrested at his home on 15 May 2025 and pleaded guilty to 22 offences, before being remanded in custody until a trial at Woolwich Crown Court in December regarding 11 charges he denied.
The jury found him guilty of all of these offences and in all, Swaisland was jailed for 33 crimes, including 20 counts of indecent assault of a child under 14, six counts of gross indecency with a child under 14, two of sexually assaulting a child under 13, two of child cruelty and three counts of making indecent images.
At Woolwich Crown Court on Friday 24 April 2026, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Hayleigh Garrett said:
‘Swaisland’s horrific offending over such a prolonged period shows him to be a determined danger to young people.
‘His crimes only came to light due to the courage of his victims, and we commend them for giving us this opportunity to put him behind bars for a long time. Our force takes all allegations of sexual offences seriously and we will work as hard as possible to get justice for victims, no matter how long ago the offences took place.’
