Breakthrough in 2025 Hollingbourne Firearms Case Sees Suspect Facing Multiple Charges After Armed Standoff

A significant development has unfolded in the investigation of a high-stakes firearms incident that occurred in Hollingbourne last summer after Kent Police officially charged a 37-year-old man with six serious offences stemming from a dramatic confrontation in July 2025.

The incident began on 7 July 2025, when officers arrived at a property on Ashford Road to execute an outstanding arrest warrant. The situation escalated rapidly, requiring the deployment of specialist armed units. During the confrontation, the suspect was shot by police and subsequently transported to a hospital with life-changing injuries.

The follow-up investigation proved to be an extensive operation. Over several days, forensic teams and Explosive Ordinance Device experts from the Ministry of Defence meticulously combed the property, discovering and neutralizing several suspicious devices. After nearly a year of intensive work, the suspect was rearrested on the morning of Thursday 23 April 2026.

The man from Ashford Road, now faces a litany of charges including the manufacturing of firearms, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and the possession and manufacture of explosive substances.

Following a video link appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court, the accused was remanded in custody. The legal proceedings are set to continue at Maidstone Crown Court on 21 May 2026.
