Emergency crews are currently responding to a large area of marshland alight in Swanscombe. People living in Greenhithe and Swanscombe are strongly advised to keep their windows and doors closed to avoid the heavy smoke drifting from the burning grass and undergrowth.
The incident, which began on the early evening of Thursday, 23 April 2026, has drawn a significant emergency presence to the Gravesham area.
Four fire engines and a specialized all-terrain vehicle are already working at the scene, with additional resources currently en route to assist with the blaze.
