A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following a reports of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage at a sports centre in Rainham.

Kent Police were initially called to the Cozenton Park Sports Centre at approximately 4:15 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, following reports that a large group of teenagers was causing a public nuisance. Upon their arrival, officers encountered a youth on an off-road motorbike who allegedly struck and damaged the wing mirror of a patrol car, as well damaging another vehicle parked at the scene.

The suspect attempted to flee the area on foot but was pursued by officers and detained. Police subsequently located and recovered the motorbike, which had been hidden nearby. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and has since been released on bail as the investigation into the incident continues.

Sergeant Matthew Tennant said:


‘We take antisocial behaviour very seriously, as we know what an impact it can have on the community. We have been patrolling this area of Rainham following reports of nuisance behaviour and were able to respond swiftly to this latest incident.


‘I would urge local residents to continue to contact us with their concerns. Your information will help us to deploy our resources more effectively.’
