Maidstone Rolex Thief Wielding 10-inch Knife Jailed After Dramatic Bedroom Arrest

A violent thief who attempted to hide under his duvet to evade police has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for the armed robbery of a luxury watch. Jason Wokeh, 20, targeted a Maidstone resident on August 19, 2025, after responding to an online advertisement for a Rolex valued at over £10,000.

Under the guise of a legitimate buyer, Wokeh visited the victim’s home in Shepway around 9pm and spent time asking detailed questions about the timepiece to build rapport. However, once the watch and its paperwork were handed to him, Wokeh brandished a 10-inch knife from his waistband and threatened the seller before fleeing the premises with the high-value item.

Investigating officers used CCTV footage and local enquiries to track Wokeh to his residence in Woolwich. When police arrived to execute the arrest, they discovered Wokeh screaming and attempting to conceal himself beneath a duvet in his bedroom. Despite his initial resistance, he eventually directed officers to the stolen watch during the search of the property.

Wokeh subsequently pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and threatening a person with an offensive weapon at Maidstone Crown Court. Following his initial appearance in October, he returned to the same court on March 23, 2026, to receive his custodial sentence.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Lynch, said:

‘Wokeh attended the victim’s home under the pretence of being a genuine buyer. He abused the man’s trust when he threatened to stab him and stole his luxury watch, leaving the victim shaken. I am pleased our officers were able to deliver swift justice and that Wokeh is now behind bars only months after the offence was committed.’
