A 22-year-old woman from Rainham has been sentenced to prison following a relentless campaign of harassment against a victim she had never met. Cora Upple, of Bloors Lane, was handed a custodial sentence after repeatedly ignoring court-mandated restrictions designed to protect the victim and her family.

The legal intervention began in July 2023 when a restraining order was first issued after Upple bombarded the victim with hundreds of social media posts and messages. Despite the court updating the order with more stringent conditions in November 2024 following multiple violations, Upple continued her behaviour.

In May 2025, she created a new social media profile to send a friend request to a member of the victim’s family, followed by a second attempt from a different account just one month later.

Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Upple pleaded guilty to two breaches of a restraining order and the breach of a prior suspended sentence. The judge sentenced her to one year and seven months in prison.

Investigating officer, PC Sophie Lawrie said:

‘Upple has targeted her victim for years, repeatedly contacting and harassing her and her family through multiple different social media profiles.

‘This repeated and unwanted behaviour has had an untold effect on her victim, and we hope that this outcome will enable her to move on with her life without the fear of being contacted again.

‘Harassment can take many different forms, and I would urge anyone who feels they are being targeted to come forward and report it.’
