Man Charged Following Series of Violent Incidents in Ramsgate


A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with 13 separate offences linked to a wave of antisocial behaviour and violence in Ramsgate earlier this week. The charges follow a string of reports involving theft, assault, and criminal damage that occurred throughout Tuesday afternoon.

The disturbances began around 4:00 PM when a suspect entered a retail premises on Addington Street and allegedly attempted to steal alcohol. During the encounter, two members of staff were reportedly assaulted and subjected to racial abuse. Shortly after this incident, the same individual is alleged to have entered an office on Queen Street where he caused damage to the property and made threats toward the employees inside.

Responding officers apprehended the suspect on Broad Street and transported him to Margate Police Station, where he is reported to have continued his aggressive behaviour by being verbally abusive toward police personnel.

The Gillingham man faces a significant list of charges including robbery, affray, threats to kill, and racially aggravated criminal damage. He appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 26, where he was remanded in custody. The case has been moved to Canterbury Crown Court, with the next hearing scheduled for April 27.
