Kent Police was called to Canterbury city centre shortly after 3am on Saturday 14 March 2026 after two girls in their late teens were walking from the direction of Rhodaus Town and were reportedly approached by a man in Station Road East who attempted to make conversation.

It is reported that the girls were followed before being sexually assaulted and inappropriate comments were made. The girls were able to alert friends and the man briefly left the scene. Officers arrived and an arrest was made nearby shortly afterwards. A suspect has since been charged in connection with sexual assaults against two victims in Canterbury.

The following day, a 21-year-old man from Ramsgate was charged with four counts of sexual assault and two counts of assault. He appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 March and was bailed with conditions to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 20 April 2026.
