A 52-year-old lorry driver has appeared in court following a serious collision on the A20 in Folkestone that left a motorist with multiple injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, on the coastbound carriageway near the entrance to the Roundhill Tunnel.
Investigators report that a white MAN articulated lorry collided with a stationary grey Peugeot 308 while both vehicles were heading in the same direction. Emergency services, including police and paramedics, attended the scene and transported the car driver, a man in his 30s, to a local hospital. He has since been discharged to continue his recovery at home.
The lorry driver was also taken to the hospital as a precaution prior to his arrest, and the roadway was eventually reopened in the early hours of the following morning.
The driver from Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was subsequently charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the day after the crash and was granted conditional bail. His next appearance is scheduled for Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday, April 7.
Kent Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand to contact them. Investigators are particularly interested in viewing dashcam footage from motorists who were in the area at the time.
