Cops have swooped on the streets of Swale to kick rogue drivers off the road in a massive safety blitz!

Officers descended on Sittingbourne on Wednesday to show nuisance motorists the red light following a wave of local fury over road safety. In one stomach-churning stop on Sheppey Way, heartless highway offenders were caught putting lives at risk. Officers pulled over a car to find FOUR children unrestrained in the back without seatbelts! The driver was slapped with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) on the spot.

The drama didn’t end there. Another motorist on the same stretch of road was pulled over for erratic driving that screamed “danger.” After a quick search, police uncovered a stash of cannabis. A 36-year-old Sittingbourne man was nicked and charged with possession of a Class B drug. He’s booked for a date at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on June 1st.

The day-long sting in the Town Centre left lawbreakers with nowhere to hide. The final scorecard of the crackdown included: 13 drivers reported for everything from chatting on mobiles to driving without insurance or belts. Three vehicles were seized and towed away and four e-scooters were snatched off the pavements by the boys in blue.

Sergeant Craig Harris said:

‘Road safety is a responsibility we all share, and these checks were carried out to protect everyone who uses our roads.

‘The offences we dealt with are entirely avoidable, yet they put lives at risk every day. We will continue to take action against those who choose to disregard the law and endanger others.’
