GRAVESEND — Two men are in custody following a proactive vehicle stop on the A2 that led to the seizure of more than 100 suspected cannabis plants and professional cultivation equipment.
The incident began on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, when patrolling officers observed a white van undertaking other vehicles near the Northfleet turn-off. Subsequent vehicle checks revealed the van had recently travelled from Nottingham to the Medway area before immediately turning back, prompting officers to intercept the vehicle.
During a roadside search, police discovered 104 young cannabis plants stored in cardboard boxes. The search also uncovered an array of industrial-grade cultivation supplies, including a large ventilation fan, soil, fertiliser, and various growing chemicals contained in black sacks.
The occupants of the van, two 30-year-old men from Northamptonshire, were arrested at the scene. Both suspects were detained on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and possession with intent to supply. Kent Police confirmed the individuals remain in custody as the investigation remains ongoing.
