Police have apprehended five suspects after a swift operation led to the recovery of three stolen motorcycles, just hours after they were snatched in an overnight crime spree across Maidstone.

The drama unfolded after a series of thefts were reported late on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Victims woke to find their vehicles missing from outside their homes in Old Tovil Road, Sussex Road, and Joy Wood, Boughton Monchelsea.

In a rapid response, officers executed a search warrant on Monday, November 10, at a property in the Shepway area of Maidstone. The investigation proved successful, with all three stolen motorcycles being successfully retrieved from the location. In addition to the motorbikes, patrols also seized an e-bike and quantities of cannabis found at the address.

A man and four teenage boys were arrested at the scene on suspicion of involvement in the thefts. All five suspects have since been released on bail with conditions while further police enquiries continue.

PC Adam Knight said:

‘We know just how disruptive and upsetting vehicle thefts can be for victims, and I hope that the swift arrests of these suspects will reassure residents of the significant work that goes on to identify and target those responsible. This includes regular operations and enforcement involving both our uniformed and plain clothes patrols.’

PC Knight added:

‘We would also like to remind owners of the several steps they can take to help keep their motorcycles safe. If possible, keep them out of sight and parked in a garage or garden and secure your bike to an immovable object such as a ground anchor. The longer a thief needs to spend breaking through your security, the less likely they are to try so owners may also want to invest in a good motorcycle lock. These can be used to secure brake discs, as well as steering controls. You can also use a sturdy chain lock through the back wheel, as the front wheel can be removed. If your bike does get stolen, please also remember that having a tracker fitted could help to locate it, as well as any offenders.’
