Six men have been sentenced to a combined 36 years and seven months in prison for a month-long crime spree across Kent, stealing over £300,000 worth of property.
Between March 20 and April 15, 2024, the gang committed numerous burglaries and thefts, netting: 12 vehicles, including nine high-end cars, two quad bikes, and a tipper truck together with golf equipment, jewellery, cash, and car keys.
The men also attempted several other burglaries and were involved in violent confrontations which included, a victim who was assaulted with a pool cue in New Romney, suffering a broken shoulder, during a car theft. They also attempted an armed “car-jacking” in Goudhurst and smashed a car’s windscreen and window, injuring a victim who tried to block their escape near Lamberhurst.
The men were arrested in April and May 2024 and following a trial, all six were convicted of conspiracy to steal and conspiracy to burgle.
Investigating officer, DC Lottie Bishop, said:
‘These prolific burglars carried out a spate of thefts and violent offences without care for anything other than selfishly lining their own pockets. They paid no mind to the lasting impact on their victims, many of whom were left feeling vulnerable after their homes and safe spaces were violated by the intruders. I am pleased with the hefty custodial sentences handed to the primary offenders and hope that it serves as reassurance to the public that they will be unable to cause harm.’
