A man has faced a judge after an alleged attack on a police officer in a town centre, an incident that saw the officer hospitalized with head injuries. The incident took place in Rochester during the early hours of Sunday, September 28, 2025. Officers were on patrol in the High Street around 1:30 am. when they noticed suspicious activity close to a car park.

When the officers approached a person, that individual reportedly attempted to flee the area. It is then alleged that one of the officers was assaulted, sustaining head injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment. The injured officer has since been released from the hospital.

A suspect was detained at the scene. During the subsequent investigation, authorities recovered cocaine, an amount of cash, and two mobile phones. The individual, described as a 29-year-old man of no fixed address, was later charged with causing actual bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply, and obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 29. The court ordered that he be held in custody. He is scheduled to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court later this month.
