From 3rd – 13th July, JAM on the Marsh returns with a stunning array of outstanding international and local artists, lighting up from Romney Marsh to Hythe with music, theatre, film, art and workshops. The festival unfolds in a variety of locations; from the intimate mediaeval churches to local gardens and steam railway carriages; bringing the arts to unexpected places.

With Radio 3 broadcast, the BBC Singers premiere royal composer Paul Mealor’s captivating Light of Paradise with the Ferio saxophone quartet performing melodic motifs through the choir, interspersed with a flamboyant saxophone quartet. Don’t miss National Theatre Live screenings of A Streetcar Named Desire at Cinemarsh or a rare late-night recital of piano meditations with Jonathan Dove. Britten Sinfonia bring orchestral drama performing Satie, Dove and Mealor, extracting extraordinary colour from strings, piano, and percussion.

Based on a Celtic legend of fear, exile and redemption, the dramatic tale The Farthest Shore will be performed by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, professional soloists and brass quintet, with a community choir of local singers including the Romney Marsh Community Hub’s Sunflower Singers and Marsh Academy students. A community set out to oust a stranger washed up on the shore only to discover a miracle ….
