A victim of theft in Canterbury has been reunited with their stolen jewellery after a rapid investigation led to officers recovering the items within 24 hours.
The jewellery was reported stolen at around 8pm on Thursday 10 April 2025, after being taken from a locker in the women’s changing room in Canterbury Puregym, Wincheap. Kent Police officers responded quickly to the report and began CCTV investigations to identify a suspect. Items including a diamond encrusted watch, silver and gold rings, along with an electronic tablet were taken from the locker. In total, these items were estimated to be worth over £20,000.
Canterbury Community Policing Inspector, Daniel Fordom, said:
‘When something valuable or personal is stolen, it can be incredibly distressing for that individual. Our priority is always to get these items back where they belong and to hold thieves to account. I am pleased to say the victim has been reunited with their possessions less than 24 hours after they were reported as stolen.’
‘This is a positive result, and a reminder of what can be achieved through quick action and close collaboration with victims.’
Kent Police officers retrieved the items the next day from a house in Cockering Road, Canterbury. A woman in her 30s was arrested at the property and has been released on bail whilst investigations continue.
