A man has been charged with four thefts, three assaults, assaulting an emergency worker, and two counts of criminal damage following a series of shoplifting incidents in Gravesend between April 7th and 9th.

The 38-year-old, from the town, allegedly stole nearly £220 worth of meat, cheese, and alcohol from three shops, during one of which two staff members were reportedly assaulted. He is also accused of threatening a shop worker and stealing £130 worth of lamb from another store, and further of assaulting a police officer and spitting on a police vehicle during his arrest.

He was initially remanded in custody after appearing in Medway Magistrates’ Court on April 11th but has since been conditionally bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on May 28th.
