Four individuals have been charged in connection with a serious assault on a female motorist near Hawkhurst, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Water Lane at approximately 2:40 pm on Sunday, April 6th, 2025. Reports indicate that the victim, a woman in her 60s, was driving along the one-way street when she encountered a motorcycle and a car traveling in the opposite direction. After stopping her vehicle to speak to the motorcyclist, she was allegedly assaulted and sustained serious injuries.

The injured woman was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Following the incident, four individuals were apprehended on Monday, April 7th. During the arrests, it is also alleged that officers were assaulted.

Subsequently, four individuals from the All Saints Road area of Hawkhurst have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They are a 26-year-old man, a 50-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old woman.

The 50-year-old woman faces additional charges of three counts of assaulting an emergency worker. The 21-year-old woman has also been charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. All four suspects were remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Wednesday, April 9th.
