Four people are in custody following a violent assault on a female motorist near Hawkhurst, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred on Water Lane around 2:40 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025, when the victim, a woman in her 60s, allegedly encountered a motorcycle and a car travelling against the one-way flow of traffic.

    Police report that after the woman stopped her vehicle to speak with the motorcyclist, he and the occupants of the car allegedly attacked her before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries requiring hospital treatment but has since been discharged.

    On Monday, April 7th, police officers apprehended two men, aged 26 and 50, and two women, aged 21 and 50, in connection with the assault. During the arrests, five police officers were reportedly assaulted.
