A range of free activities for the young people of the district has been organised for the Easter school break.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council is putting on fun sporting, gaming and walking events in various locations between Tuesday 8 April and Thursday 17 April. It will also provide an opportunity for the Folkestone & Hythe Community Safety Partnership (CSP) to engage with young people and discuss issues such as e-scooters, knife crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Hawkinge community event: Tuesday 8 April, 2pm-4pm at Hawkinge Community Centre. Free sporting activities, as well as information and advice regarding e-scooters and knife awareness.
- Bouverie Place sports cage: Friday 11 April, 10am-4pm at Bouverie Place Shopping Centre. Show off your best football skills, while also having the chance to share your experiences of safety and anti-social behaviour.
- Youth walk and talk event: Tuesday 15 April, 2pm-4pm starting at the Civic Centre. A guided walk around Folkestone town centre, giving young people the opportunity to share their experiences. You must sign up online to attend.
- Gaming vault bus at Bouverie Place: Thursday 17 April, 3pm-5pm at Bouverie Place Shopping Centre. Have a go on our consoles and also learn about how to stay safe whilst playing online.
The CSP is a statutory body which brings together public sector agencies with voluntary and community organisations. Its purpose is to reduce crime and re-offending, tackle anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, domestic abuse and address other community safety concerns. Kent Police, Kent County Council’s Family Hub and the Folkestone Town Ambassadors – all members of the CSP – are involved with this programme of events.

Meanwhile, residents can share their thoughts in an online safety survey. Feedback will be shared with partner agencies and will influence community safety priorities and delivery moving forward.
