On Thursday 20 March 2025, a police patrol stopped a man walking near New Road, Chatham, who they suspected was involved in the supply of cocaine.

It is reported the man tried to leave and the two constables were subsequently assaulted after which the suspect was arrested and multiple drug deals were later recovered along with a mobile phone.

A man from Rochester was later charged with possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis, two counts of assaulting a police officer and attempting to escape lawful custody. The 24 year old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 March.
