A Maidstone man with a serious sweet tooth has been jailed after a relentless campaign of chocolate thefts at supermarkets within easy reach of his home. Danny Couldridge, 37, repeatedly targeted Co-op and Morrisons stores in December 2024, with a particular focus on high-value chocolate items.
His spree included a brazen theft of 20 boxes of Ferrero Rocher from a Morrisons on Sutton Road, contributing to hundreds of pounds worth of stolen goods. Couldridge’s pattern of targeting large quantities of chocolate became a hallmark of his crimes. He hit Co-op stores on Willington Street and Northumberland Road, as well as the Morrisons.
After being arrested and charged on January 3, 2025, for five separate thefts, Couldridge failed to appear in court. This led to a warrant for his arrest, and he was apprehended again on March 9. He pleaded guilty at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on March 11 and was immediately sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, paying the price for his chocolate-fueled crime wave.
