A burglar who broke into Boots in Faversham twice in one night has been jailed following a Kent Police investigation.
Matthew Robinson, 44, admitted to breaking into the town centre pharmacy in the early hours of Sunday 12 February 2023. Patrols were called to the Preston Street premises shortly before 6am that day, after Robinson smashed into the store with a co-offender stealing goods worth £6,300.
The pair stuffed bottles of perfume and aftershave into holdalls and fled before returning moments later to repeat the offence.
Officers attended and carried out enquiries and an investigation led to the identification of the burglars, who were arrested on separate occasions and later charged.
Robinson, from the town pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and going equipped for theft. He was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment on Monday 10 March 2025 at Maidstone Crown Court. Dean Boorman, 38, also from Faversham, previously pleaded guilty to the double burglary and was given a one year suspended sentence.
Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said:
‘The senseless actions of these individuals had a significant impact on the local community and their brazenness in returning to the crime scene to steal further is deplorable. I am pleased they have been sentenced, and hope it serves as a reminder that we will always track down perpetrators and bring them before the courts to face justice.’
