An elderly man has died following a multi-vehicle collision on the A2 London Road in Gillingham, Kent Police have confirmed.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 11:45 am, involved a silver Audi A6, a silver Vauxhall Astra, and two parked white Ford Transit vans between the junctions of Pump Lane and Bloors Lane. According to police reports, the Audi A6, travelling towards Rainham, collided with the Vauxhall Astra, which was heading in the opposite direction. The force of the impact resulted in both vehicles subsequently striking the parked Transit vans.

Emergency services, including Kent Police patrols and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, responded to the scene. A passenger in the Vauxhall Astra, an 80-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He died from his injuries on Saturday, March 8. The driver of the Audi A6 also received hospital treatment.

The Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision and officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
