Dover man fined £600 in complex fly-tipping saga

A five-month investigation by Ashford Borough Council has resulted in a £600 fine for a Dover man after a large fly-tipping incident in Aldington.

The council’s Environmental Enforcement Team called it “one of the most complex investigations ever carried out.”

The man was fined for failing in his duty of care to ensure waste from his property was disposed of legally, after a large amount of household and builder’s waste was found dumped in a rural area. The investigation involved multiple interviews and piecing together conflicting accounts, and eventually tracing the waste back to a property in Dover.
