Derelict Folkestone brickworks transformed: New homes and jobs on the horizon!

Exciting news for Folkestone & Hythe! A former brickworks site, neglected for years, is set to be revitalized thanks to the proactive efforts of the local council.

Recognizing the potential of this 10-acre plot at Biggins Wood, the council stepped in and acquired the land in 2017 to ensure its future. With government support, the site underwent crucial remediation work, making it ready for development.

Now, a partnership between Wickhambreaux Developments Ltd and Orbit Homes, in collaboration with Chartway, will bring this vision to life. The development will feature:

“This project exemplifies the council’s commitment to revitalizing our community,” says Cllr Jim Martin, Council Leader. “By taking a proactive approach, we’ve unlocked the potential of this derelict site, bringing much-needed affordable housing, employment opportunities, and vital community spaces to Folkestone & Hythe.”

Construction is set to begin this February, marking a significant step towards transforming this neglected land into a thriving hub for both residents and businesses.
