Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has revolutionised its firefighting capabilities by becoming one of the first in the UK to deploy a state-of-the-art firefighting robot!

This cutting-edge technology is set to transform how KFRS tackles challenging incidents, prioritizing firefighter safety and minimizing disruption to communities.

The robot, a marvel of modern engineering, will be deployed at large-scale fires, such as those at industrial and commercial sites, where conditions can be extremely hazardous. Equipped with advanced sensors and capabilities, the robot will:

  • Gather vital intelligence: Record high-resolution video, pinpoint hotspots with thermal imaging, and utilize audio to communicate with individuals trapped inside.
  • Assist in rescue operations: Safely navigate dangerous environments and even assist in evacuations using a built-in stretcher.
  • Combat fires directly: Deliver a powerful water jet capable of spraying up to 2,000 liters per minute, directly combating the flames.

The robot will significantly enhance KFRS’s ability to:

  • Protect firefighters: Minimize exposure to hazardous conditions and reduce the risk of injuries.
  • Improve efficiency: Expedite incident response by gathering critical information quickly and effectively.
  • Limit disruption: Minimize the impact of fires on the community by enabling faster and more controlled interventions.

Get ready, Kent! This innovative firefighting robot is poised to make a dramatic impact, ensuring the safety of both firefighters and the public. The robot will be out responding to incidents across the county in the next few weeks.
