A pedestrian has tragically lost their life following a collision on the A20 near Ashford, Kent.
Kent Police were called to the scene on Hythe Road at Mersham le Hatch, near to the junction with The Street, Mersham, at 11.18pm on New Year’s Day.
Emergency services attended, but sadly, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Following the incident, a damaged silver Honda Jazz was recovered by officers in the Osborne Road area of Willesborough shortly after midnight on Thursday, January 2. Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody
Detectives are now appealing to the public for any information that may assist their investigation. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision, including local residents with private CCTV footage and motorists with dashcam recordings.
