On Monday 18 November 2024, Kent Police investigators detained a man in Chatham High Street for a search. They seized seven bags of a substance that was analysed and found to be a synthetic drug also known as ‘spice’.
This enforcement was followed three days later with search warrants executed at addresses in Chatham and Strood. Quantities of cocaine and cannabis were recovered at the latter premises along with a mobile phone. Two men were arrested and taken into custody.
One man, aged 45, from Chatham was later charged with possessing ‘spice’ (a class B drug) with intent to supply. Meanwhile a second man aged 37 from Strood was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Both appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 22 November. They were remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 20 December.
