A suspect has been charged in Thanet as part of police work to disrupt organised crime following concerns received over suspected criminal activity in the area.

During the morning of Tuesday 12 November 2024, police discovered a property in Tothill Street in Minster was being used to house a cannabis cultivation, with more than 600 plants found. Multiple black sacks of harvested cannabis were also seized and officers have now dismantled the growing equipment being used. As part of their enquiries into the address, an arrest was made.

On Wednesday 13 November, a man aged 22, of no fixed address, was charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis. He appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court later the same day and was remanded in custody. The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 16 December.
