Charges have been brought against a Thanet man after officers in Ramsgate were alerted to a suspected drugs deal on Monday 11 November 2024.
Patrols were taking place in the Ramsgate Harbour area at the time when officers’ suspicions were aroused by two men in a car. One man got out and was stopped and spoken to by officers. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug. A search led to the recovery of cash, mobile phones and a white powder believed to be cocaine. The man has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
The car was stopped by officers nearby a short while afterwards and the driver detained. Following initial enquiries, he too was arrested. Related searches were carried out and a large quantity of a substance thought to be cocaine; cash and various banking deposit receipts were seized.
On Tuesday 12 November, a man from Broadstairs was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession of criminal property. The man aged 43, appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court later that day and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 16 December.
